Mr. H. L. "Buster" Black

Funeral services for Mr. H.L. “Buster” Black will be conducted at 10:00 am, Monday, July 24, 2017 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Luther Chapel Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm Sunday, July 24, 2017 at the funeral home and on Monday from 9:00 am – 9:45 am prior to the funeral service.

Harold Lloyd Black was born in Smith County on May 21, 1926 and passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest at the age of 91. “Buster” as he was known among his family and friends, was a lifelong resident of Pulaski, and a retired mechanic from Sara Lee, Inc. After his retirement, he was proud of the fact that he was able to visit 49 of the 50 states, having been “with in eyesight” of Hawaii, but never went back there after his service in the US Navy during World War II. He will be remembered for his joy of gardening and tree farming, and his earlier years of hunting, fishing and woodworking when his health permitted. He was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Smith County, and most recently attended Luther Chapel Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Ruby Hannah Black; one daughter-in-law: Ruby Black; his parents: Walter Scott and Luna Horsley Black.

Survivors include his two sons: Scott Black of Sumrall and Marty (Gigi) Black of Pulaski; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and his only surviving brother: Henry Black of Starkville; and several nieces and nephews.
