Brownsville CommunityMr. Hugh Douglas Winstead, 79, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at his home in the Brownsville Community of Hinds County, MS. Visitation will be Monday, October 17, 2011 from 5 – 7 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 10 am Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Private family burial will be in the Burns United Methodist Church Cemetery in Burns, MS.Mr. Winstead was born on March 22, 1932 in Burns, MS to the late Luther Delton and Willie Mae Carr Winstead. He retired in 1991 as a Jackson Police Officer where he had served for 28 years. He had been a resident of the Brownsville Community for over 15 years. He was a member of the Burns United Methodist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed retirement spending time with friends and family.Survivors include two sons, Hugh Douglas “Doug” Winstead, Jr. and his wife, Kaylon of the Brownsville Community and Brent Winstead and his wife, Cherie of Brandon, MS; four granddaughters, Kaley, Abbey, Lacey and Shelby Winstead; and two sisters, Kay Rogers of Sylverena, MS and Nancy Ann Alford of Monticello, MS.Memorials may be made to the Burns United Methodist Church, Burns, MS.
