Mr. Hughie Q. Millis, age 73, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Merit Health Rankin Hospital. Visitation was held 5-8pm Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Services were held 2pm Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Antioch Baptist Cemetery. Bro. Ron Bird officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Millis was born January 18, 1944 in Mize, MS. He loved refinishing furniture, gardening and working in his yard. His family stated, “He was a good man.” He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Hollingsworth Millis; parents, Claude Millis and Nola Mae Johnson Millis; grandchildren, TJ Mazingo & Josh Clark; great grandchildren, Jade Clark & Kadee Jo Bradshaw; sisters, Catherine Sullivan & Bonnie Jean Moore; brothers, Jr. Millis, Mitchell Millis & Dale Millis.
Survived by his children, Dee Dee Millis of Mendenhall, Wayman Millis (Julie) of Paris, TN, Alesia Thornton (Eric) of Brandon and Samantha Meek of Puckett; 8 siblings, Charles Millis (Judy) of Franklinton, LA, Oree Millis (Shirley) of Brandon, Mac Millis (Shirley) of Puckett, Joyce Craig ( Gary) of Puckett, Faye Milling of Morton, Ina Puckett of Puckett, Betty Vanderford of Puckett and Ada Pinkham of Puckett; 7 grandchildren, Cory Clark, Casey Clark, Kerri Leanne Mazingo, Logan Millis, Emanuel barnes, Lisamarie Barnes and Sydney Ann Meek; a number of great grandchildren; partner, Lynn Abernathy of Brandon; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Kevin Millis, Jeremy Abernathy, Chris Barnett, Keith Berry, Emanuel Barnes, Preston Millis and Dwight Clark (alternate).
