Ike James McLain, 74, of Brandon went home to be with the Lord on Monday November 4, 2024. He grew up in Waynesboro, Mississippi, and was the son of Owen William Sr. & Daisy Bell McLain.
He attended Beat Four High School and was later married for forty-eight years to the love of his life Debbie Lynn McLain.
Retiring in 2018 from a lifelong career as a business owner and short haul truck driver, he finally settled down to enjoy his family but most dear to him, his grandchildren.
He wasn’t a man of many words, but conveyed very easily who and what mattered most to him. He enjoyed a good western, sitting in his rocking chair on his front porch, and spending as much time with his little family as possible. His lighthearted sense of humor brought joy to those that loved him most.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Lynn McLain; his parents, Owen William Sr. & Daisy Bell McLain; his five brothers, Michael Wayne, Bobby Ray, Jerry Wayne, Owen William Jr. (O.W.); and his four sisters, Beverly Maxie, Sherry Ezell, Myrtle Davis, & Linda Cooley.
He is survived by his two children, Kellie McLain of Bossier City, LA, and Chris McLain (Mashawna), of Brandon, MS; his two sisters, Annette Scarbrough (Arthur) of Waynesboro, MS, and Jeanette Easterling (Michael) of Laurel, MS; six grandchildren, Weston Pender (Kendall) of Bossier City, LA; Gabe Pittman of Jackson, MS; Garrett Pittman (Mallory) of Richland, MS; Caitlyn McLain (Chandler) of Philadelphia, MS; Caleigh Pittman (Logan) of Florence, MS; and Azlynn McLain “lil bit” of Bossier City, LA; and one great-grandchild, Rowan McLain.
He was loved by his family beyond what he ever understood and his presence for birthdays, holidays, and individual milestones will be missed tremendously, but his family has vowed together to ensure he will remain the tie that binds.
