Mrs. Iona Tucker Parkman, age 73, a resident of Polkville passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Her visitation will be held 5pm-8pm Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Services will be held 11am Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in First Baptist Church Cemetery in Polkville. Bro. Jeremy Price and Bro. Will McNeese will officiate the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mrs. Parkman was born in Leake County on December 18, 1945. She enjoyed going to Lake Washington on fishing trips. Iona loved being outdoors and enjoyed going camping with her family. When her health allowed she served and worked with the organizations of Horses with Handicapped, Burn Victim Rides and Horses Helping Cancer Patients. She loved her own horses and the whole family enjoyed going riding with their horses and wagons. She even had Draft horses that she could handle herself. Iona loved her family very much and she will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ellis Tucker and Cleo Neese Tucker; siblings, Arcola Watkins, Carl Bud Tucker, Mary Winters, Annie Moore, Daniel Tucker and Arnold "Shine" Tucker.
She is survived by her spouse, Douglas A. Parkman of Polkville; children, Douglas Edward Parkman (Sheila) of Polkville, Becky Diane Ross (Rodney) of Polkville, Donna Anderson (Kevin) of Puckett and Carl Daniel Parkman (Fiona) of Polkville; 2 brothers, Joe Tucker of Morton and William Tucker (Becky) of Morton; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Parkman, Dustin Parkman, Cliff Ross, Justin Ross, Jason Bradshaw and Luke Easterling. Honorary pallbearers will be Chucky Huff, Dale Tucker and Arnold Tucker.
Memorials may be made in her name and honor to Autism Society of America.
