Irene Rock

Mrs. Irene Rock, age 80, and a longtime resident of Smith County, passed away on December 22, 2018 at the Jasper County Nursing Home in Bay Springs.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am on Monday, December 24, 2018 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Forest with Bro. Bill Walker officiating. Interment will follow at the Jesus Name Church Cemetery near Sylvarena under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the funeral home and on Monday beginning at 10:00 am prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Rock was born at Edinburg, but had been a resident of this area for the past sixty years. She was a Christian by faith, and loved her family very much. She will be remembered for her selfless character and strong work ethic. The personal testimonies of her family, as matriarch of the family, echo the quote of her husband: “she was a wonderful wife, and a great mother to our children.” Her memory will live on the hearts of those who knew her.

She is preceded in death by one daughter: Stacey Carol Rock; one son-in-law: Jeffery Harrison; her parents: Joe and Bessie Breland Bell; one brother and three sisters.

Survivors include her husband of over 60 years: Mr. Edd Rock of Raleigh; five children: Betty (Allan) Westbrook of Raleigh; Kathy Harrison of Pulaski; Regina (David) Wallace of Bay Springs; Danette Garner of Raleigh and Jonathan (Amber) Rock of Raleigh; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Westbrook, Cody Westbrook, Brent Rock, Brian Martin, Joseph Kennedy, and Johnathan Ethridge.
