Irvin Earl Sims Clinton, MS Irvin Earl Sims, 61, died Friday, January 30, 2015 at his home in Clinton, MS. Visitation will begin Sunday, February 1, 2015 from 2 until 5 pm and Monday, February 2, 2015 from 10 am until 12 Noon at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Monday from the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hodge Hill Cemetery in Morton, MS. Pallbearers will be members of the AMR Honor Guard. Military Services will be held at the graveside. Irvin was raised in Morton, MS, and graduated from Morton High School in 1971. He was a member of the Morton Volunteer Fire Department. He became a registered Emergency Medical Technician in 1982. Irvin worked for Scott County EMS for several years before moving to Hinds County, MS, and taking a job with the Jackson Fire Department. After years with the Jackson Fire Department as an EMT, he began working for Mobile Medic, which later became AMR. While with AMR, he served as a field training officer, worked with the neonatal ambulance, and provided training and knowledge to multiple fellow employees. Irvin was nominated “EMT of the Year”, “ EMS Lifetime Award”, and many other awards during his career. He was considered a pioneer in the EMS industry. Irvin served in the Mississippi National Guard for 13 years. He was also an avid hunter, being a member of the “Headhunters Hunting Club”, where he spent many enjoyable hunting seasons with friends. Irvin is preceded in death by his father and mother, Earnest and Sarah Sims; and his grandparents. Survivors include his brother, Earnest Sims (Martha) of Tupelo, MS; his sister, Iris Toten of Amory, MS; one aunt, Mary Allen of Jackson, MS; and a host of EMS family.
