Ivy Hayes

Ivy Jo Skinner Hayes, 79, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away Monday, September 10, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson, MS. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hayes was born February 25, 1939 to Fred Skinner and Freda Earline Gilchrist Kirkpatrick. She was married to Aubrey C. Hayes, Jr. Mrs. Hayes was of the “Old School” and was a loving wife, mom, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She never forgot birthdays and special occasions such as Valentine’s day. She always looked forward to all of her children and their families together. She enjoyed art and sharing her work with others. She was very proud to have volunteered as a “Den Mom” with the Boy Scouts of America and seeing her sons become Eagle Scouts. Mrs Jo had three unofficial children, Randy, Matt and Stephanie, that she loved and encouraged to complete their high school education. Mrs. Hayes was very proud of her Scottish Heritage and enjoyed hearing the Scottish music on bagpipes. She loved her family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Skinner and Freda Earline Gilchrist Kirkpatrick; and her brother, Richard Kirkpatrick.

Mrs. Hayes is survived by her husband of 60 years, Aubrey C. Hayes, Jr.; daughter, Laura (Jerry) Riddle; sons, Michael C. (Sharon) Hayes, James A. (Rebecca) Hayes, Alan C. (Rebecca Joy) Hayes and Matthew B. Hayes; brother, James C. (Charlotte) Kirkpatrick; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; other family and a host of friends.
