Ivy Jo Slade Nance, 62, passed away Wednesday, March 20. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home, Highway 80, Brandon, MS, at 3pm Friday with visitation starting at 12 Noon.
Ivy was born October 8, 1950, in Wiggins, Mississippi. She was the youngest of ten children, born to the late Iv Slade and Bertha Daughdrill. She lived in Forest, Mississippi for much of her life. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother of two boys, and worked as a manager of Dollar General stores in Rankin County for the past decade.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter, who spent much of her life taking care of her loved ones. She will be remembered for her fiery unwavering spirit and her great love and devotion to her grandchildren. Ivy loved cooking, gardening and wood working crafts.
Ivy is survived by her fiancé, Woodward Coleman; sons, Michael and Gary Gillette; brothers, Max and Jimmy Slade; sisters, Phyllis Trewin, Laura Breland, Linda Stringer, and Doris Farmer; granchildren, Virginia Gillette, Kelly Gillette, Richard Gillette, and Tiffany Ferris.
