Mr. Gaughf was born in Ridgeland, MS, on May 12, 1940, to Laither Deloin Gaughf and Pearl C. Edwards Gaughf. Jackie was devoted to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and His family rejoices in the promise that he is face to face with Him now.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
“Papa,” as his grandchildren called him, was kind and generous to everyone he met.
He was a dedicated husband who loved & cherished his wife for almost 60 years.
He spent many hours at sporting events, piano recitals, graduations, and, most recently, weddings, because he loved and supported his family. He was a thoughtful servant and witty jokester who made the little things in life fun. He loved to work with his hands and did everything from building to drawing, and from wood-working to baking his famous mini-pecan pies. While his hands were skilled, “Papa” leaves a legacy that will outlast anything he made with his hands - the example of a man who lived, loved, and served with all his heart.
Survivors include his wife Florene L. Gaughf; son, Carey Gaughf (Paula); daughter, Pam G. Hendershot (Mike); sister, Edith Waldrop; brother, Wallace Gaughf; grandchildren, Morgan G. Williams,Taylor Gaughf, Jordan G. Soileau, Kara Gaughf, David Hendershot, Holly H. Martin and Jack Hendershot; great grandchildren, Caleb Williams and Eliza Williams.
