James Anderson Parker, known to many as Jimmy, was born on September 13, 1933, in Lawrence, MS, to Charles Daniel and Madge Weems Parker. He passed away on January 12,2025, in Brandon, MS, at the age of 91.
Jimmy was a veteran of the US Army and worked as a masonry contractor. He loved nature, traveling, and raising registered Black Angus cattle. He was known for his quick wit and enjoyed making others laugh. Family reunions were particularly dear to him, as he cherished time spent with his loved ones.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Merle Lane Parker; daughter, Jennifer Sledge and her husband Charles; sister, Clara Jane Higginbotham; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Madge Parker, and nine siblings.
Funeral services will be held on January 16, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Brandon, MS. There will be a visitation on January 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home. There will be a 2:00 PM graveside service at Lawrence Community Cemetery in Lawrence, MS in Newton County.
