James W. Brantley, 82, a
resident of Brandon, MS went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at
Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 5 – 8 pm and again Friday,
May 17, 2013 beginning at 9 am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon,
MS. Funeral Services will be at 10 am
from the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with burial to follow
in Sunrise Baptist Church Cemetery in Carthage, MS.
James was born on June 18,
1930 in Leake County, MS to the late Eddie Lee and Fannie Kay Martin
Brantley. He lived and raised his family
in Jackson, MS. He had worked at Blue
Ribbon Creamery; Vickers; had his own television repair shop; and retired from Klingler Electric Corp. He enjoyed RV camping, visiting with friends
and family, whom he loved dearly, and he
became a skilled woodworker. He was
known for his willingness to help anyone when they needed help. He was an active member of Brandon Baptist
Church.
He was preceded in death by
his wife, Laverne Brantley; and a grandson, James Joseph Brantley, II.
Survivors include his children,
Susan Lancaster (Thomas), Kathleen Wilson (Gene), and James “Jimmy” Brantley (
Donna) all of Brandon, MS, Larry Micheal Hawkins ( Deanna) of Kemp, TX and Pamela
Denise Jarvis ( Robert) of Birmingham, AL; his brother, Billy Lee Brantley (
Marie) of Carthage, MS; grandchildren, Tommy Lancaster, III, Brian Lancaster,
Jay Wilson, Regina Berry, Ray Hawkins, Alexandra Jarvis, and Robb Jarvis; and
seven great-grandchildren.
