James Brown Creel, 79, a resident of Pearl, MS died Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Graveside services will be held 12 pm Friday at Bethel Cemetery in Flora, MS. Visitation will be held 10-11 am Friday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Rev. Steve Purvis will officiate the services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.
Mr. Creel was a native of Bentonia, MS. He was the son of Sylvester M. Creel and Mattie Elizabeth Bernett Creel. He was married to Martine Huebner Creel. Mr. Creel worked many years for Trailways as a mechanic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Creel was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester M. Creel and Mattie Elizabeth Bernett Creel; son; brothers, John Creel, Rev. Samuel Creel and Tommy Creel.
Mr. Creel is survived by his wifeof 57 years, Martine H. Creel; children, John (Cindy) Creel, Glenda Fields and Karen Cooper; sisters, Goldie Purvis, Emily Hughes, Vickie Jackson and Vesta (Bobby) Pitts; brothers, Guy (JoAnn) Creel, Marion (Jenny) Creel and Kenny (Margaret) Creel; sister in law, Lorice Creel; three grandchildren, Chad Cooper, Justin Cooper and Quinton Creel; seven great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
