Polkville, MS

Rev. James David Beatty, age 83, a resident of Polkville made his heavenly flight on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.  His visitation will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Morton Jesus Name Church and on Sunday from 9am-11am also at the church.   Services will be held at 11am Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Morton Jesus Name Church on Hwy 80 East, Morton, MS with Bro. John Goodhue and Bro. Thomas Jones officiating the services.  Graveside will follow at Beatty Family Cemetery, 775 SCR 139, Morton, MS.  Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton is honored to serve the Beatty Family.

Rev. Beatty was born in Polkville, MS on April 24, 1941.  He enjoyed hunting and loved his dogs, Coco and Lillie.  David worked for the Mize Police Dept for many years.   Serving the Lord was something Rev. Beatty always wanted to do.  He carried his worn Bible with him and would witness to people everywhere he went.   Reading his Bible and preaching the word was something he believed in doing.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Lee Ezra Beatty and Daisy Estella Keene Beatty and 1 child, Virgil Beatty.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Beatty of Polkville; 5 children, Wanda Allen (Frank) of Polkville, Eugene Beatty (Nancy) of Polkville, Johnny Beatty (Tammy) of Polkville, Bryan Beatty (Angela) of Philadephia and LeKeshia Allen (Jeffrey) of Polkville; a host of grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Beatty, Cody Beatty, James Beatty, Cameron Herrington, Austin Herrington and Logan Williams.  Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Stevens, Dakota Beatty and Jeffrey Allen.
