Mr. James Paul (Jimmy) Gilliam, Jr., age 49, a resident of Pelahatchie died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Ms. Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.  Visitation was held 5-8pm Monday, June 6, 2011 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.  Funeral services were held 10am Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from the Eastside Baptist Church in Pelahatchie with burial in the church cemetery.  Rev. Glenn Curtis and Rev. Gary Glazier officiated the services.  Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
 
Jimmy was born in Greenville, MS in 1962.  He was actively involved with the Boy Scouts.  He loved to deer hunt and fish.  But most of all he just loved being outdoors in the serenity of nature.  Jimmy loved his family very much and was very proud of his grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. 
 
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Harvey  Gilliam and Mr. & Mrs. Rueben Cordell.
 
He is survived by spouse of 30 years, Laurie Smith Gilliam of Pelahatchie; sons, Jay Gilliam (Renee) of Pelahatchie and Tyler Gilliam of Pelahatchie; sister, Cindy Glazier (Gary) of Morton; brother, Sean Gilliam of Pelahatchie; grandchildren, Maggi and Jayse Gilliam; sister-in-law, Marilyn Read (John) of Leland; parents, James Paul Gilliam Sr. and Betty Cordell Gilliam; mother-in-law & father-in-law, William and Betty Smith of Greenville; nieces, Kaitlyn Gilliam, Abigail Glazier, Elizabeth Read; nephews, Austin Reed, Levi and Joseph Gilliam and a host of friends.
 
 
Memorials may be made in his memory to, Eastside Baptist Church, 1143 Noblin Bridge Rd
Pelahatchie, MS 39145.
