James Hester

James H. Hester, age 92, died Sunday, June 7, 2020, in Brandon following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Thursday, June 11, 2020, from the chapel of OTT & LEE Funeral Home in Forest with interment to follow at the Trinity Methodist Cemetery near Raleigh.  Visitation will be held from 1pm until the service time.

Mr. Hester was born Sunday, March 18, 1928, in Smith County to his parents, Richard Henry Hester and Carrie Tramel Hester. As a young man, Mr. Hester served in the United States Army.    He was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church near Raleigh.  He retired from the Mississippi State Hwy. Dept as a machine operator.  He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed being outdoors.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 68 years, Doris Carpenter Hester.

Survivors include his 2 children;  Dianna H. McGowan ( John) of Canton, MS, and Peggy H. Rider (James) of Randolph, NJ, and 1 granddaughter;  AnnaMcGowan, several nieces,  nephews, and their children as well as a host of friends.
