James Monroe Holmes, 66, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Brandon Court in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 5:30 until 8:00 pm and Friday, September 16, 2016 at 12 Noon at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 16, 2016 at 1 pm from the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home with burial to follow in Brandon Memorial Gardens.
James was born on September 27, 1949 in Brandon, MS to the late Monroe Edward and Ottris Storey Holmes. He was a graduate of Brandon High School. In his early years he worked as an elevator operator for the State of Mississippi. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brandon, MS. He was a life long resident of Brandon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew: Calvin Holmes.
Survivors include his brother, William E. Holmes and wife, Marie of Brandon; three nephews, William Holmes and wife, Elizabeth of Madison, MS, Greg L. Holmes and wife, Kim of Brandon, MS, and Alan Holmes and wife, Jennifer of Brandon, MS; and four great nephews: Kyle, Stephen, Preston and Tyler Holmes all of Brandon, MS.; and several cousins.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, 309 S. College St., Brandon, MS
