BURIAL: NEW BRANDON CEMETERY
VISIT 5-8 PM FRIDAY AT OTT AND LEE IN BRANDON
James Harold Kennedy, age 82, died June 9, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital, Jackson. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on June 10 and also at 1:00 PM prior to the 2:00 PM Funeral on June 11 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home, Brandon, Mississippi. Interment will be at New Brandon Cemetery, Brandon, Mississippi.
Known as Harold, he enjoyed his work as an oil scout for Cities Service Oil Company and its successor, Occidental Petroleum. He retired with over thirty years of service, all from the Jackson offices. He secured information on wells in Mississippi and also in Alabama and Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lola Kennedy; by three brothers, Frank, Earl and Robert Kennedy. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine J. Kennedy of Brandon, MS; by two children, Caren Madden Moore & husband, Bill of Madison, MS and Steven H. Kennedy & wife, Joy of Pearl, MS; by three grandchildren, Wes and Tyler Madden and Laynie Kennedy. He is also survived by a sister, Bessie Kennedy Long of Brandon, MS and by several Nieces and Nephews.
Many thanks are given to the staff at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital who diagnosed his ALS condition (Lou Gehrig’s disease), in particular Dr. Moore, Dr. Whites and Dr. Si, and to the staff and workers at Select Specialty Hospital for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alta Woods Baptist Church, 168 Colonial Drive, Jackson, Mississippi 39204, or to any worthwhile charity of choice.
