James Archie Marler
Kosciusko, MS
James Archie Marler, age 85, a resident of Kosciusko, died Tuesday July 31, 2012 at the V.A. Nursing Home.
Mr. Marler was born August 5, 1926 to Edgar and Myrtle Marler in Harperville, MS. He lived all his life in Forest, MS. He was a graduate of Forest High School and Mississippi State University. He served his country during World War II as a member of the Navy.
Mr. Marler married Mary Jo Hubbard in 1949. He was the owner of Marler Auto Co. where he sold Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth Cars and John Deere Farm Equipment until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Forest Rotary Club for 45 years. He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, Forest United Methodist Church, and the Forest Methodist Men’s Club.
Mr. Marler served as the President of the Forest Chamber of Commerce, President of the Forest Rotary Club, Director of the Mississippi Automobile Dealers Association, Director of The Mid-South Farm Equipment Association, and Commander of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Marler, by his children, Brenda Tillman (Jerry) of Brandon, MS, Martha Eppstein (Jim) of Gulfport, MS, Dave Marler (Pam) of Ontario, Canada, his sister, Mrs. Bobbye Brinkley (Roy) of North Little Rock, AR. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 8:30 am – 9:45 am on Friday, August 3, 2012 at Forest United Methodist Church. Service will begin at 10:00 am on Friday at Forest United Methodist Church and interment will follow at Eastern Cemetery in Forest, MS. Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest, MS will be handling the services.
