Funeral services for James "Santa Claus" Parker will be conducted at 1 pm on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from the Ott & Lee Chapel. Interment will follow in the Leesburg Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Visitation will be from 5 pm - 8 pm Monday, October 17, 2016 at the funeral home and Tuesday one hour prior to the funeral service.
James Parker was born March 19, 1937 in Rankin County and passed away at his home on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the age of 79.
He was enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and was an animal lover. He enjoyed growing and tending to his fruit trees. He loved his family very much, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was known as "Santa Claus" by lots of folks. An avid story teller and conversation maker, he never met a stranger. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Leesburg Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Jack and Estelle Parker; one sister: Helen Osburn and one grandson: Stacey Martin.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years: Frances Parker; his children: Sandra (David) Harrell; Elizabeth Guy; Waymon (Lori) Parker; Michelle (Rex) White; Dennis "Bubba" (Gena) Parker; and Alyson Parker; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley Grimes and Linda Cantrell; a host of nieces and nephews and his "yard youngins"
Pallbearers will be Brian Hall, Richard Emerson, David Myers, J.B. Franklin, Ryan White, and Paul Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bo Burnham, Richie Franklin, Buster Meeks and his grandchildren.
