James O. Vaughn, age 86, and a resident of Madison died Thursday, November 11, 2021, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10am Monday, November 15, 2021, from the chapel of the OTT & LEE Funeral Home in Forest. Visitation will be held from 6pm-8pm Sunday, November 14, 2021, at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 1pm Monday, November 15, 2021, at the Vernon Baptist Cemetery.
James, known by many as “Reservoir Red” was born on May 13, 1934, to his parents Joe Vaughn and Ruby Pool Vaughn in Shuqualak, MS. His Christian practice was of the Pentecostal faith. He loved his family, the outdoors, and fishing. He enjoyed every day of his life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Barbara, a daughter, Sandra Burrell, and son Calvin Lee Vaughn. siblings; Alice V. Knowles,
Margaret Inez Sells, Pearl Dunn, Sue Bell Holmstrom, Mary Ellen Vaughn, and Frankie Vaughn, Joe C. Vaughn, Virgil L. Vaughn.
Survivors include his children; James M. Vaughn of Madison, Judy A. Hogan of Florence, Peggy S. Vaughn of Madison, and Rubie M. Gray (Larry) of Florence; sister, Mae Carby of Union and Norman E. Vaughn of Memphis, TN. Other survivors include 10 grandchildren and12 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers are Matthew Burrell, Jacob Lindsey, Austin Hogan, Daniel Burrell, Carl Burrell, and Tommy Adams. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Roberson and Andrew Gray.
