James E. “Jim” Walters, 81, a resident of Pelahatchie died Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at home. Funeral service was held 2 pm Thursday, May 23, 2012 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton with burial in the Barefoot Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Pelahatchie. Visitation was held 5:30-8 pm Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the funeral home. Rev. Jerry Holmes officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Walters was a native of St. Francis Parish. He was the son of James Odis Myrtis Katherine Chambers Walters. He was married to Lurline Walters. Mr. Walters served 25 years in the Communications Industry working for GE. He proudly served his country in the Air Force. He was a Mason and was a member of the Pearl Lodge in Jackson, MS. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Walters was preceded in death by his parents, James Odis and Myrtis Katherine Chambers Walters.
Mr. Walters is survived by his wife, Lurline Barnes Walters; children, Jimmy (Mary) Walters of Harrisville, AR and Wanda Walters of Pelahatchie; sister, Carolyn (Jim) Guyse of Morton; granddaughter, Kayla Clark; great granddaughter, Faith Daniella Clark and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Darwin Shaw, Mark Shaw, J.W. Barnes, Alonzo Neal, Gary Carpenter and William E. McCoy.
