Funeral services for Mr. James Arthur Massey will be conducted at 2 pm on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from the Union Baptist Church at Red Top with Bro. James Shoemaker and Bro. Aaron Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation will be from 5 pm – 7 pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the funeral home.
James Arthur Massey was born in Scott County on February 21, 1934 and passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the V.A. Medical Center in Jackson at the age of 82.
A lifelong resident of Scott County, Mr. Massey was a member of Red Top Union Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed fishing, watching Westerns, and eating sweets. He was a simple man.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Arthur Calvin and Naomi Harris Massey and two sisters: Helen Crimm and Jonie Ruth Wheeler.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years: Mrs. Jaunice Massey; five children: James G. Massey, and his wife Stacey; Barry Massey; David Massey; Wanda Reid, and Denise Massey, and her special friend: Billy Randall; one sister: Margaret Crimm; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Huey Bell, Todd McLemore, Heath Warren, Toby Reid, Elvis Shaw, and Carl Johnson.
Honorary Pallbearer is Wayne Rushing.
