James Cecil “DoDad” Parker, age 65, a resident of Morton passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at his residence. His visitation was held 5-8pm Friday, February 28, 2014 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral service was held 2pm Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Parkway Baptist Cemetery. Rev. Bob Followell and Rev. John Vaughn officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Dodad was born in Leake County in 1948. He started out working for B.C. Rogers in the chicken Industry many years ago and then worked for Koch Foods for many years. He was a very dedicated employee and loved his job. He was a man of very few words. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Parker and Martha Howell Parker; sisters, Annie Katherine Parker, Lois Parker Stewart and Idell Parker; brothers, Rufus Parker and Clyde Parker.

He is survived by 4 sisters, Glenda Porter of Forest, Joyce Dupree of Taylorsville, Mary Lee Brooks of Newton and Shirley Parker Smith of Morton; brother, Roy Parker of Morton; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Keyes, Kip Stone, Jason Stewart, Gerald Mobbs, Michael Reid and David McGriff. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Brooks, Terry Brooks, Iven Smith Jr., Curtis Smith, Brandon Smith, David Parker, Gary Paul Parker, Dalton Stewart, Danny Roy Stewart, Timmy Dupree, Danny Wayne Dupree, all nieces and his friends from Koch Food.
