James E. “Jimmy” Cowden, 74, of Brandon, MS died September 8, 2019. He was born in Bay Springs, MS to Lucy Mae and Earnest Cowden.
Jimmy was a faithful member of Brandon Baptist Church and worked with the Kitchen Crew. He worked in the electrical industry over 50 years, and most of those years he owned and operated Jim Cowden Electric. His professional motto was “The difficult we will do immediately. The impossible will take a little longer”. The business is carried on by his son, Marty. Jimmy served several years in the Army National Guard. His hobbies included gardening, watching wildlife – birds and deer behind the house, and baking his famous pecan pies by his “secret recipe”. Jimmy was an avid sports lover. He coached his kids in soccer, baseball and softball. He also loved watching his grandchildren play sports in recent years, giving them a lot of advice whether they asked for it or not.
Jimmy was sincere in his love for the Lord, his family and was a role model in every way. He is survived by his wife Polly; daughter, Wendy (Kelly) Fisk; son, Marty (Michelle) Cowden; grandchildren Ashley, Chelsea, Peyton and Keegan; brother, Bill Cowden; and his loving furry companion Charlie.
