James Gordon Mason

March 18, 1939 — November 11, 2016

James Gordon Mason, 77, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away Friday, November 11, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday, November 14, 2016 with burial in the Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 2-5 pm at the funeral home. Rev. Mitchell Hedgepeth will officiate the services. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.

Mr. Mason was a native of Booneville, MS and was the son of James Lenier Mason and Lina Eugenia Smith Mason. He was married to Janice Lynn Dennis Mason. Mr. Mason worked in Sales for Humphrey Clower/Acosta many years before he retired. He proudly served his country in the Navy. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brandon, MS. Mr. Mason loved coaching his girls in softball and enjoyed any time he could help others with the game. He always put others first and never met a stranger. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Mr. Mason was preceded in death by his parents, James Lenier Mason and Lina Eugenia Smith Mason and his sister, Margaret Ann Bailey.

Mr. Mason is survived by his wife of forty-seven and a half years, Janice Lynn Dennis Mason; his daughters, Kimberly Mason and Laurie (Josh) Hailey; sister, Dorothy Pavlou; two grandchildren, Max Hailey and Mia Hailey; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Serving and honoring as pallbearers were Josh Hailey, Bruce Ferguson, Greg Dennis, Chris Dennis, Alfred Laird and Malcom Ferguson.
