Mr. James Howard Watkins, age 75, a resident of Morton passed away on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Lackey Hospital in Forest. Visitation was held 5-9pm Sunday, March 04, 2012 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral service was held 1pm, Monday, March 5, 2012 from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Sims Hill Cemetery. Rev. Brat Wilkerson officiated the services.
Mr. Watkins was born in Newton, MS in 1936 to Otho James Watkins and Naomi Wilkerson. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Morton. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Nell Frazier Watkins in 2008; parents, Otho James Watkins and Naomi Wilkerson Watkins; sisters, Lotis Rogers, Lillian Talbert and Pauline Ellingburg and brother, Clarma “Bud” Watkins.
He is survived by his 6 children, Brenda Peterson, Linda Barnes, Jean Prestage, Janice Mowdy, Donald Watkins and James “Bucky” Watkins; brothers, Billy Watkins and Clyde Watkins; 17 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Michael Watkins, Timothy Montgomery, Gary Barnes, Steven Rayner, Jason Jackson and Donald Joseph Watkins. Honorary pallbearers were Stevie Bradford and Olee May.
