Mr. Jim Lawrence, age 66 of Morton passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, MS after a courageous fight with cancer.

Jim was born near Arcadia, LA on August 4, 1945 to Charles Joseph Lawrence and Lou Ella Kilpatrick Lawrence. He was a devout family man and loyal to his friends. His interests included music, fishing, the outdoors, his love for cooking and grilling for family, friends and co-workers will be missed. His favorite Sunday past time was spent in his recliner watching Nascar. He was an ordained deacon in the Presbyterian USA Church and retired in September 2011.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Emogene New and Tommy Lawrence.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Sue Foster Denson Lawrence of Morton; his rescued shepherd, Beaudreaux; daughters, Tracey and husband Chris Ratcliff, Jennifer and husband Adam Maul; sons, Riley Lawrence and fiancé Christina Dailey, and Jamey Lawrence; step-sons, Steven Denson, Jason Denson and wife JJ; grandchildren, Bryan Ratcliff, Lauren Ratcliff, Elle Maul, Jace Denson, Jacob McGreger, Andrea Denson, Charlie, Sandi and Ashley Lawrence as well as several great grandchildren; nieces and newphew, Peggy Stovall, Linda Rhodes, Billy New, Debbie Walter, Donna Basham and Dorothy Nowlin and extended family all from North Louisiana and Texas area.

The family celebrated Jim’s life on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Pelahatchie Shore Park Pavilion in Brandon.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.
