Mr. Jimmy Barthel, age 68, a resident of Lena passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Merit River Oaks Hospital. Visitation was held 5-8pm Friday, April 07, 2017 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral services were held 2pm Saturday, April 8, 2017 from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Farm Rest Cemetery. Bro. Michael Giles and Bro. Hoyt Ainsworth officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Jimmy was born in Pottstown, PA on May 18, 1948. He was a proud member of the Pelahatchie Masonic Lodge #276. Jimmy loved to be outdoors. He loved to hunt rabbit, squirrel, frogs and go fishing. Jimmy also enjoyed doing carpenter work, traveling and spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Madeline Barthel Pittman.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie “Pearl” Barthel of Lena; 2 children, Steve Barthel of Lena and Lacey Barthel Richards (Brock) of Lena; 6 grandchildren, Eric Barthel, Steven Barthel, Sara Barthel, Chasity Williams, Haleigh Richards and Brian Richards; 2 great grandchildren, Leia Barthel and James Barthel; special family member, Monica Boyd (Dwayne) of Florence; 8 siblings, Cheryl, Vickie, Toni, Terry, Brenda, Debbie, Edward and Cathy; lots of old and new friends.
Pallbearers were Eric Barthel, Steven Barthel, Justin Pate, Billy Smith, Eddie Rhodes, Burnell Burch, Josh Bryant and Marty Moore. Honorary pallbearers were John Wallace, Jerry Willis, Tommy Ellis, Lamar Moseley, Andy Moseley, Bud and Gary.
