James K. “Jimmy” Mashburn died at home on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the age of 82. Visitation will be 9 am Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Brandon Baptist Church prior to the service, which will begin at 11:00 am Saturday. Interment will follow in Brandon Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.

Mr. Mashburn was born and reared in Pelahatchie, and had resided in Brandon the past 50 years. After working for 30 years as Chief Chemist at Marquette Cement, he retired in 1982 and then served two terms on the Brandon Board of Aldermen. He was a faithful member of Brandon Baptist Church. As an avid clock collector, he was appointed a Fellow in the National Watch and Clock Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hattie Lowery and L.E. Mashburn and his son, Kinny Mashburn.

Survivors include his wife, LaNelle Collier Mashburn and children, Kay (Archie) Howard of Forest, Vicki (Dwight) Pickle of Houston, TX, and Sidney (Ann) Mashburn of Atlanta, GA. There are nine grandchildren: Austin and Coleman Howard, Wyatt and Caid Pickle, and Elizabeth, Louisa, Daisy, Harriet, and Pauline Mashburn. He is also survived by his brother, Billy C. (Mary Lou) Mashburn of Yazoo City and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be donated to Brandon Baptist Church, 100 Brandon Baptist Drive, Brandon, MS 39042 or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1907 Dunbarton Drive, Jackson, MS 39216..
