James “Jimmy” L. Roland, 78, a resident of Morton died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the V.A. Medical Center in Jackson. Funeral services will be 10 am Friday, May 11, 2012 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton with burial in Morton Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Rev. Earl Clark and Rev. Jerry Holmes will officiate the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton will be in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Roland was a native of Scott Co. He was the son of Jesse M. Flora Grace Roland. He worked in the furniture industry for 30 years. Mr. Roland proudly served his country in the US Army and will be honored with a Military Ceremony at his committal service. He was a member of the East Morton Baptist Church. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse M. and Flora Grace Denson Roland and his infant grandchildren, Matthew and Joshua Roland.
Mr. Roland is survived by his children, Tammie Roland (Tim) Tabor of Hernando, MS and Tim (Stephanie) Roland of Tupelo, MS; brother, Melvin T. (Frisky) Roland of Morton and Shirley (Chester) Sawyer of Morton; 5 grandchildren, Tyler and Taryn Tabor, James Yanascek, Jacob Roland and Megan Roland; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
