Mr. James P. Shepherd Jr., age 84, a resident of Morton, MS passed away on, March 24, 2023, in Jackson MS. Born on June 19, 1938 to James P. Shepherd Sr. and Grace P. Derrick Shepherd. James lived most of his life around Morton and Scott County. Later married Ella Mary Brown, they started their family, having five children. A Christian by faith and was a member of Newton First United Methodist, Church. James was an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed farming and watching football, family was most important to him and spending time with them brought him great joy.
Preceded in death by his parents, James and Grace Shepherd, son, James M. "Jimmy" Miles Shepherd, granddaughter, Kristin P. Wallace; aunt and uncle, Ulma and Jim Miles; brother-in-law, Tommy D. Brown.
James is survived by his wife, Ella Mary Shepherd, four children, Suzanne Easterling, (Randy), Sherry Wallace, (Ken), Steve Shepherd, (Jinna), Stacey Shepherd; one sister, Shirley Schwartz, sister-in-law, Shirley Brown; eight grand children, Lauren, Casey, Zach, Lindsay, Megan, Ethan, Seth, Kallie, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 12:00pm to 1:50pm Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS, with the Funeral Service at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Ott and Lee Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pulaski Cemetery.
