James Reed “Sonny” Purdon, Jr. , 70 went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 5 until 8 pm and Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 2 pm until Service time at 3 pm in the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home with burial to follow in Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon.
James Reed Purdon, Jr. was born on February 6, 1944 in Pontotoc, MS to the late James Reed and Grace Bridgeman Purdon. He was a tradesman, having worked in Security most of his life. He was a loving family man whom everyone loved and he loved them. He loved his dogs, Pepper and Bandit. He had been a resident of the Brandon area for over 30 years and was a member of Crossgates United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Martha Purdon of Brandon; children, Chris Purdon , Scotty Purdon and Joey Purdon all of Pontotoc, MS, Nancy Martin and Joe Falls both of Brandon, MS; a number of grandchildren including Elizabeth and Blaine Martin of Brandon, MS and one great grandchild on the way; a brother, Ronald Purdon of Alabama; and extended family including Rick, Terry, and Zack Holyfield of Brandon, MS, and Drew, Allison and Stella Ann Lewis of Brandon, MS
