Janelle Creel, age 83 and a resident of Morton, died Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the Mississippi Care Center in Morton following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Wednesday, March 20, 2019, from the chapel of the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest. Rev. Tal Vardaman and Rev. Joe Crain will officiate. Graveside services will not be held at the cemetery, the family will remain at the funeral home to visit with friends. Visitation will be held from 6pm to 9pm Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at the funeral home. Final resting place is in the Salem Cemetery.
Mrs. Creel was born on October 6, 1935, in Scott County to her parents, Jessie Graham Amason and Etta M. Harmon Amason. She was a member of the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church. She had worked many years for Tyson in the Hatchery division. She loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Rufus C. Creel.
Survivors include her 4 children; James Creel, Sr. (Brenda) of Pulaski, Sherry Jerauld (Kelby) of Pelahatchie, Carol Runnels of Morton and Wanda Talbert (Pellom) of Pelahatchie. She is also survived by 3 sisters; Shelby Jean Porter of Raleigh, Betty Reids of Tylertown and Martha Massey of Forest. Mrs. Creel also leaves behind a legacy of 20 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Honoring the life of their grandmother, her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers are Dewayne Boykin, Roger Boykin, Bobby Smith, Kelby Jerauld, Chase Perkins, Brad Creel, Matt Creel and Pellom Talbert .
