Jan Merritt Davis, age 66, of Brandon, passed away on February 6th, 2021.

There is no chance of summing up Jan Davis in one page. She and Donnie were married in 1977. They had 44 amazing years together. They had a wonderful, loving relationship. Donnie made her laugh everyday. To say she adored him would be a huge understatement.
Jan, also known as Mama to Lindsay, and Grammie to her grandbabies, had an infectious smile, and used it often. She smiled when she was happy, when her kids and family were around, at every holiday gathering, and most every time Donnie Davis opened his mouth. That smile is not with us in the physical realm anymore, but it certainly is not gone. The example she left for us is a great one. I’m sure a lot of us in this room will be asking ourselves in the near future, to allude to an old acronym, “what would Jan do?” Right now, Jan would tell each of you, “ Praise Jesus and love your family, enjoy your lives, take care of yourselves”.
Jan was also a caring sister and friend. She was one of the most giving and helpful people you could ever meet. Her door was always open if you needed something, no matter the relationship of the past or present, she wanted the future to be better. She was a fabulous cook, and an avid advice giver if requested.
A piece of all of us was taken when she answered that call from God on Sunday. A hole that can’t be filled that we carry to the end of our days now. We may manage, adapt or adjust, but there is no filling the shoes that she occupied. She would not tell us to get over it, but she would expect us all to get through it.
Preceded in death by her father Lowell Thomas Merritt, father-in-law Solon Davis, mother-in-law Ruby Davis, sister-in-law Barbara Davis
Survived by her mother Jean Merritt, Husband Donnie Davis, Daughter Lindsay Davis Palmer, Son-in-law Richard Palmer, Grandchildren James Davis and Emma Palmer, Brother Keith Merritt, (Cheryl Merritt), Sister Lisa Harris (Curtis Harris) Brother-in-law Lex Davis, Brother-in-law Bruce Davis(Linda Davis).
Survived by a laundry list of aunt and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins (who were like brothers and sisters), and wonderful friends. You all know who you are and she loved each of you dearly.
