Janice “Jan” Renee Thompson Tadlock Morton Janice “Jan” Renee Thompson Tadlock ,age 58, of Morton, passed away Tuesday, December 20, in Jackson. She was preceded in death by her father, Preston Burnell Thompson. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her husband of 35 years, Jim Tadlock of Morton, her mother, Vera Thompson of Morton, her five sisters, Vivian McLain (Wylie) of TX, Evelyn Snow (Tommy) of MS, Sue Player (Oren) of South Carolina, Donna McCreary of South Carolina and Joy Evans (Max) of MS, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, and friends. Jan was born in Jackson on November 28, 1958. She graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi College and later completed her Master's Degree also at Mississippi College. Jan is well known through out the community for her long career as a well loved teacher. Although she had no children of her own, she invested her life loving and nurturing her students. She finished out her more than 25 year career as Technology Director for Scott County. Jan was an avid sports fan and kept score for the Panther basketball team. She enjoyed helping Jim coach baseball and flag football teams in the community. Ole Miss never had a more loyal fan. More than anything else, Jan loved and supported her large family. Nothing was more important to her than making certain her family had everything they needed. Jan was a teacher, and the greatest lesson she taught by the example of her life was to live a life of selflessness. She leaves a void in the lives of so many that can't be filled, but heaven will be an even more joyful place because she is there. Visitation was held 5-9pm Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 10am-12pm Friday. Funeral sevices were held 1pm Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Sardis Baptist Cemetery. Rev. Brian Gomez and Bro. Mickey Walls officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Pallbearers were Chris Snow, Joe Snow, B.J. McCreary, Jason Gomez, Rev. Brian Gomez, Joshua Evans, Matt Player and Luke Snow. Honorary pallbearers were Miles Porter, Andre Hollis, Alfonzo White. Memorials may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
