Janie Griffin Deer passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation was held on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 4:00 pm from the Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton with Bro. Calvin Wactor presiding.
Janie was born on October 1, 1963 to her parents John Percy Griffin and Mittie Pilgrim Barfoot.
She loved watching television and keeping up with friends and family on Facebook. She also loved flowers and enjoyed playing card games Rummy, Skip-BO, Phase 10 and others. She loved her grandchildren and family and friends. Janie would give them what she had to help them anyway she could. She loved meeting people and never met a stranger.
She is preceded in death by father, John Percy Griffin. Janie is survived by her mother, Mittie Pilgrim Barfoot; her daughter, Courtney Reid; her son, Christopher Deer; her sisters, Teresa Kendrick, Norma Owens, Angela Smith, Tarrasa Vasquez; her grandchildren, Camron Boyd Deer, Emma Acie Deer, Owen Boyd Deer; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
