Janie Faith Gomillion, 67, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Miss. Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation is 12 noon until 1 pm Monday, January 28, 2019 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm at Ridge Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Joey Smith and Rev. David Goree officiating.

Janie was a native and lifelong resident of Scott County. She was a faithful member of Ridge Baptist Church where she was the pianist for many years.  Janie was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi where she received a BA degree in Fine Arts. She taught piano in the Scott Central School District for over 20 years and was also a highly accomplished artist, having her art displayed in several galleries in Mississippi. Besides piano and art, Janie’s favorite pastime was running and she was often seen running on the family farm.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Erbert Gomillion, Jr. of Forest; son, Christopher Gomillion (Jaci) of Ridgeland; mother, Yvonne Gunn of Forest and brother, Mark Gunn (Sherry) of Meridian.  She was preceded in death by her father, Penson Gunn, Jr.
