Jay Palmer Brantley, age 55, beloved owner and operator of Brantley Pest Control, passed away on January 2, 2024, in Jackson, Mississippi. He was born on November 2, 1968, in Oxford, Mississippi. Jay was an exceptional individual who brought immense joy to everyone he encountered. His magnetic personality and unwavering love for others made every interaction feel like a lifelong friendship.
Jay's interests were vast and varied. He enjoyed anything outdoors, from the thrill of hunting to the excitement of skiing. Traveling held a special place in his heart as it allowed him to explore the beauty of different landscapes and cultures with his family. Jay was a MSU fanatic and that is putting it mildly.
Professionally, Jay excelled as the owner and operator of Brantley Pest Control. Through his hard work and dedication, he built a thriving business that served the community with integrity and care.
Jay was the life of every party, radiating positivity wherever he went. His infectious laughter and genuine love for others made him an exceptional friend. He cherished relationships deeply and considered his friends more like brothers.
On January 5, 2024, friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes on 1360 W Government St in Brandon, Mississippi. The visitation will begin at 5:00 PM and conclude at 8:00 PM.
Another visitation will be held on January 6, 2024, at Crossgates United Methodist Church located at 23 Crossgates Dr in Brandon, Mississippi. Friends and family may gather between 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM to honor Jay's memory.
A celebration of life will follow at Crossgates United Methodist Church, starting at 10:00 AM on the same day. During this heartfelt event, we will reflect on Jay's remarkable life and the indelible impact he had on all who knew him.
Jay will be laid to rest during a graveside service at Crestview Memorial Gardens, 1106 Star Rd in Brandon, Mississippi.
Jay leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years Stephanie Hawkins Brantley of Brandon, Mississippi. Additionally, he is survived by his loving daughters Rachel Brantley, Palmer Brantley, Claire Brantley – all of Brandon, Mississippi – and his sister Lisa Brantley Workman of Roanoke, Virginia. Jay's mother Brenda Brantley of Brandon, Mississippi also mourns his loss. He was preceded in death by his mother Beverly Brantley and his father James "Jim" Brantley.
Jay Palmer Brantley's departure from this world has left a void that cannot be filled. However, we find solace in the memories he leaves behind and the countless lives he impacted. He will forever remain in our hearts as a one-of-a-kind person who brought light and laughter into our lives.
Jay has battled pancreatic cancer valiantly since 2022. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jackson Oncology and Baptist Medical Center for their care and guidance. The family would also like to thank Pete Patricks Tire and Lawn Dawgs for their unwavering kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask for your continued support of Brantley Pest Control as Jay said "Treat customers like I want to be treated."
