MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 10 AM SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2017 AT FOREST BAPTIST CHURCH
Myra Jean Gibbs Amis, age 85, a lifelong resident of Forest, died peacefully Tuesday, February 7, 2017 following an extended illness.
Jean was born on February 14, 1931 to her parents, Herman E. Gibbs and Gerdia Lay Gibbs in the Good Hope community in Scott County. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi. She retired as a Deputy Circuit Clerk form Scott County in 1994. Jean was a faithful member of Forest Baptist Church for many years until her health began to fail in recent years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother Herman Gibbs.
Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Paul H. Amis and a loving son Paul “Mike” Amis both of Forest. She also leaves behind one grandson of whom she was very proud of, Paul Marshall Amis of Nashville, TN. She was truly and “angel” on earth. It seemed as her goal in life was helping anyone feel better as she always enjoyed doing just that. Her goal in life was “going the extra mile” for family and friends. In the words of her husband, “She was always our Valentine girl!” She fought a courageous battle with cancer, several times, she won, with exception of this last battle.
The family wishes to express “Thanks” to all her healthcare providers, especially to Sta-Home Health and Ilydia Hall, RN.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am Saturday at Forest Baptist Church.
