SPEIRBRANDONJeanette Winkler Speir of Brandon, MS, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, December 15, 2012 at “Hospice Ministries” in Ridgeland, MS. She was 83.

She was born December 11, 1929 in Detroit, MI to the late Harold and Gladys Winkler but spent most of her childhood and young adult life in Kosciusko, MS.

Jeanette was a longtime member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Jackson, MS where she served a number of years as a caregiver for the bed babies. In 2006 she moved her membership to Oakdale Baptist Church in Brandon, MS and was active in the “Misfits” Sunday school class.

Three of the delights of her life were crocheting, playing Bridge with her friends and spending time her only grandchild Christina Speir.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 63 years, Robert L. Speir of Brandon, her son Lee and wife Paula and their daughter Christina Speir of Dallas, TX, and son Art Speir of Atlanta, GA; also her brother Herman Winkler and his wife Mary of Brandon.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, December 18, with funeral service immediately following at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel,1360 W. Government St, Brandon, MS. Burial will be at 2:30 pm at Attala Memorial Cemetery in Kosciusko, MS-Dr. Billy McKay officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Jeanette’s memory to the “Oakdale Baptist Church Building Fund”, 1872 Hwy 471, Brandon, MS, 39047.

The Speir family expresses thanks and gratitude to the staffs at “Brandon Nursing & Rehab” in Brandon and “Hospice Ministries” in Ridgeland for their loving care and support - especially to her special sitter and caregiver Tammy Dortch.
