Mrs. Jean S. Walker, age 88, a resident of Morton passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Rush Hospital in Meridian. Her visitation was held 5-8pm Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Services were held 11am Friday, February 10, 2017 from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in North Morton Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Gary Wyatt and Bro. Paul Smith officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Mr. Walker was born in Lowndes County on September 15, 1928. She loved to sew and make quilts. Jean was an active member of North Morton Baptist Church where she served the Lord in many areas. She always could be counted on to bring an overabundance of food to every function and event happening at the church. Jean enjoyed canning all the vegetables that her husband, Charles grew in his big garden every year. She was known for her kindness and for helping and serving others. Jean loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dudley Lee Smith and Kittie Brazeale Smith and 4 brothers, Jack, Earnest, Mahlon and Ronnie Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Walker of Morton; son, Michael Walker and wife, Renea of Morton; 3 sisters, Virginia Lyle and husband, Frank of Contrell, Kittie “Sook” Harrell of Clifton and Betty Pope and husband, Billy of Hillsboro; grandson, J.C. Walker and wife, Phoebe; 3 great grandchildren, Destiny Walker, Ashton Sims and Destiny Sims; 1 step grandchild, Brad Boykin; 2 step great grandchildren, Rylan and Ripley Boykin and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Richard Gregory, Doug Sanders, Scott Thomas, Clay Howard, Jacky Smith and Brian Massey.

Memorials may be made in her name and honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
