Jennie Ruth Comans, age 86, a resident of Conehatta, formerly of Lawrence, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Saturday, June 17, 2017 from the chapel of the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest with interment to follow in the Eastern Cemetery. Bro. George Heath and Bro. Travis Watkins will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 9pm Friday June 16, 2017.
Mrs. Comans was born on March 11, 1931 in Leake County to her parents Worthy Eli Moore and Sally A. Myers Moore. She was a faithful member of Lawrence Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Melvin Comans. They had lived in the Scott County area and later moved to the Lawrence community. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Survivors include her 5 children; Melvin Gene Comans (Marsha) of Lawrence, MS. Dwight Comans (Bobbie) of Forest, MS. James “Doug” Comans of Conehatta, MS. Jamie Comans (Susan) of Decatur, AL. and Betty McCormick (Hardy) of Forest, MS. She is also survived by 1 brother; William Moore of Lawrence, MS. and a sister; Winnie Dickerson of Richland, MS. She leaves a legacy of 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Pallbearers are James Sabins, Jimmy Withers, Mark Withers, Duli Comans, Ronnie Strait and Eddie Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Hugh Strebeck, Tommy Walters, Jackie Knight and Mike Lee.
