Jerald Oscar "Jerry" Potter, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on February 1, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. He was born on December 2, 1944, in Ferriday, LA. Jerald served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he was part of the military police. He also served in Vietnam.
After his military service, Jerry dedicated his career to the grocery store business, where he retired as a stocker at Kroger after previously managing several grocery stores in the area. He was known for his cheerful demeanor and had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he met with a smile always on his face. Jerry had a passion for watching professional wrestling, John Wayne/Clint Eastwood westerns and keeping up with politics.
Jerry shared 32 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife Betty Frances Potter. He cherished spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Betty Cate Potter and his dog Bella, who brought joy to his life.
He is survived by his son Les Potter and his wife Laura, his granddaughter, Betty Cate Potter, his brothers David Potter and Dennis Potter. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Betty Frances Potter, his parents Lester David Potter and Eula Lee Andrus Potter, along with his brother Donnie Potter.
Jerald will be remembered for his kind spirit, warmth, and the many smiles he brought to those around him. His legacy lives on through his family and the many lives he touched.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery.
