Mr. Jerry Adkins
January 15, 1946 — July 8, 2017
Jerry Adkins, 71, went to be with his Lord, his wife, and others on July 8, 2017 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will begin Friday, July 14, 2017 from 5 until 8 pm and again Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 10 am until the 11 am Service in the Chapel at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS. Rev. Alton Doyle and Rev. Jesse Swilley officiated and Jason Dickerson, Philip Brandt, Jessie Allen, Chris Bailey, Sherman Johnson, Joseph Begley, Michael Branning and Peter Dawson served as pallbearers.
Jerry was born on January 15, 1946 in Philadelphia, MS to the late Bill and Autie Mae Adkins. He had been a resident of Pearl, MS for over 50 years. Jerry was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was his family’s Superman and will be greatly missed. He gave more of himself and at times, more than he had. He owned and operated A & A Steam cleaning for more than 50 years.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda Jean Brandt Adkins; and his brother, Billy Joe Adkins.
Survivors include his children, Jimmy Adkins, Debbie Rigsby (David Joe), Alton Doyle, Susan Schield (Wade), David Doyle (Regina) Lauri Begley (Chris), John Adkins (Anya) Melissa Bryant, Jerri Lynn Adkins, Amanda Begley (Joseph), Angelica Adkins, Leslie Bryant, and Alyssa Bryant; a sister, Marjorie Branning; twenty-six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
