Jerry Jones

Funeral services for Mr. Jerry N. Jones will be conducted on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 2 PM from the Salem Baptist Church at Lake with the Rev. Larry Duncan and Rev. Shannon Burns officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Steele Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 from 5 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Jones, a resident of Forest, was born in Leake County to his parents Ocie D. and Norma Sistrunk Jones on August 16, 1938. He passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Lackey Convalescent Home at the age of 76.
He was a member of Salem Baptist Church at Lake where he served as a longtime deacon and Sunday School teacher for 40 years. He was the former owner of Jones Equipment Company where he was affiliated with the Kuhn Mower Company and had the honor of speaking twice at the home headquarters in France. He also was the former owner of Jones & Company Roofing. Mr. Jerry was a proud member of the Sons of Confederacy, Chap. #1666, East MS Greys. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a good provider for his family and he loved the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Buck Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Mrs. Betty Jones of Forest; two children: Stacy (Terry) Crosby of Lake and Shane Jones of Forest; two grandchildren: Jeri Lynn Crosby of Forest and Bryant Crosby of Lake; one step-grandson: Caleb (Laura) Crosby of Lake; four sisters: Jean Harris of Forest; Carol Thomas of Pheba; Kay Thornton of Sunrise and Deborah Lang of Ringgold; four brothers: Jim Jones of Terry; Alan Jones of Tyler, TX; Mike Jones of Homewood and Robin Jones of Walnut Grove; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Mrs. Lissie Smith, 1986 Conehatta Rd., Lake, MS 39092.
