It is said that if you love much, you grieve much, and so we lean on God’s comfort as we announce the passing of Jerry Don Roan. A beloved husband, and father who raised his kids in the Catholic faith. A devoted grandfather, and great-grandfather, and an exceptional friend. He left this world at 85 to be with the Lord, where he was reunited with the love of his life, Anna, in Heaven.
He was born in Commerce, TX to Minnie Haddock Bailey and Clarence Wendell Roan where his love for aviation grew. One of his favorite memories was when an airplane landed unexpectedly on his father's farm where they assisted him in refueling. In return the pilot gave them a ride around the patch. It was at that moment, as a 6-year-old boy, that he knew he wanted to be in aviation.
He enlisted in the Navy in May 1958, where he worked with airplanes until he retired & ended his service in May 1980. During his time in the Navy, he was stationed at the Naval Air Station in New Iberia, LA where he met the love of his life Anna Theriot. They shared 62 wonderful years of marriage together, spending most of their time with their family or traveling the world. Together they raised three children: Debbie, Greg, and Dana Roan. Instilling in them the same values and principles that they held dear – family, faith, hard work, adaptability, patience, and perseverance. After years of traveling all over the family eventually ended up settling in Pearl, MS where they lived a quiet life.
Jerry was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Pearl, MS where he worshiped and served faithfully for many years alongside his wife Anna.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Roan, parents Minnie Haddock Bailey and Clarence Wendell Roan, his stepfather Russel P. Bailey who raised him, brother Clarence Roan and granddaughter Nicole Trim. He is survived by his children Debbie Bland, Greg Roan, and daughter-in-law Cheree Roan, and Dana Trim, and son-in-law Ed Trim, his grandchildren Trent Bland, and wife Meghan Bland, Jarid Roan, and wife Melissa Roan, Halee Roan, Rachel Roan, Josh Trim, and wife Megan Trim, Matthew Trim, and his wife Adriana Trim, and his great-grandchildren Caden Bland, Quinn Bland, Seth Roan, Whitten Trim, Olivia Trim, Hudson Frith, and Everley Mabry and his half-brother Terry Roan. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A visitation service will be held Thursday March 6th, family 4:30 –5 PM, and public 5 –7 PM at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.
