Jerry “Jake” Carl McCoy, age 70, a resident of Brandon, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at a local hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 2:00 PM from Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with Rev. Brent Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Pearl, MS. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 5-8 PM.
Jake was born in Indianola, MS on July 5, 1947. He attended Hinds Community College and The University Southern Mississippi. He was a member of Pinelake Church and he retired from the USDA Soil Conservation Service as a Soil Conservation Technician. Jake proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, where he earned the national Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal (two Bronze Stars).
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Carl McCoy; mother and step-father, Winnie and Gene Cronley; two brothers, Glen McCoy and Eddie McCoy.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cathy McCoy of Brandon; daughter, Emily Grace McCoy of Brandon; sisters, Sharon Curtrer of Pearl, MS and Karen Grisham (Truman) of Collierville, TN; brothers, Todd McCoy (Loretta) of Pearl, MS and Steve McCoy (Trish) of Purvis, MS; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In lieu od flowers memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Home.
