Jerry Jerome Scott, 71, passed away February 28, 2017 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Thursday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Richland. Visitation will be at 10 am until the 11 am service.
Jerry, born in Brookhaven on December 7, 1945 to Randolph and Myrtis Ballard Scott, was a
member of Woodville Heights Baptist Church. He worked for the Army National Guard for 18 years, later working for UPS for 24 years. Jerry was a dedicated husband and father who loved coaching his daughters’ softball teams and helping others, especially children. He enjoyed riding Harleys and hunting and fishing with friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ralph Scott and Randolph Scott, Jr.; and sisters, Esteen Quinn, Margaret Sasser and Mildred Miller.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue Scott, of Florence; daughters, Lorrie Alexander of Brandon and Emily Scott of Florence; six grandchildren, Will Alexander, Audrey Alexander, Maddie Alexander, Dalton Walters, Hayden Walters and Shelby Claire Walters; and a beloved niece, Beverly Weeks and family.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
