Jesse Frank Davis, 90, retired Special Agent with the Mississippi State Tax Commission, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Briar Hill Rest Home in Florence, MS. Visitation is 3-5 P.M. Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Services are 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 14, 2014, in the chapel of the funeral home and interment will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Jackson, MS.
Mr. Davis was born in Columbus, MS, on December 31, 1923 and moved to Jackson following his service in WWII and has lived in Brandon since 2006. He served in the U.S. Army with the 100th Infantry Division during WWII and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. While overseas he was awarded the Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Presidential Unit Citation with Two Oak Leaf Clusters and WWII Victory Medal.
Mr. Davis was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson and had faithfully attended Lodebar United Methodist Church in Pelahatchie with his son and his family for several years prior to his death.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Robert and Mattie Sharp Davis; his wife, Dorothy A. Davis; one brother, Thomas Robert Davis, Jr.; and a sister, Mary Grace Anderson.
He is survived by his son, John Davis and wife Judy and his grandchildren, John Kyle, Ken Harpe and Leah Davis.
